Toy Story 3 PSP: Review

Toy Story 3 on PSP is a surprisingly enjoyable game for players of all ages. Rated E due to 'mild violence', mainly some explosive blasts, the game provides hours of fun for all who choose to play it. Buzz, Woody and Jessie are the actual personalities used in the game play scenarios even though it incorporates a host of other characters from the movie...

PSP games are known for their exceptional graphics and Toy Story 3 is no exception, it is adorned with vibrant colors and outstanding scenery (given that these are cartoon characters that is). The scenes are clear and coherent, and the transition between scenes or stages is smooth.

Game play is relatively easy as you use the analog button to control the direction of the characters while using the action buttons to perform different functions like jumping, grabbing items or hitting targets. I am not a big fan of using the analog button control characters so this is my only issue with the game, but that being said this is not a deal breaker. There are several different arenas of play each with subcategories making this a lengthy gaming experience. Throughout the game hints are also provided to help with game play. Scenes are set up as actual story events from the movie as well as make believe scenes which are customizable for each player. There are bonus features which you can unlock as you progress through the game and cheats that give an extra edge, such as Buzz being able to use his laser in all levels, the code bandit which allows Woody to wear his bandit outfit, and many more.

Due to the many different levels and the variations afforded by the option to customize some of the scenes the game can be played multiple times, each being a unique experience. An extra bonus is the time attack where you can return to previously completed levels and see if you can better your time. The game also has downloadable content allowing you to download extra levels of Buzz Adventure, Woody's roundup and Alien Escapades, this is the cherry on top of the whole gaming experience.

It is a great value for the price too since I was able to pick it up for only $20. All in all Toy Story 3 on PSP is a great game and I highly recommend it to gamers of all ages.
