Video Game Review: Modern Warfare 2 - Entertainment - Video Games

After waiting anxious for months, the newest addition to Call of Duty is finally here! Whether you're new to the series or a returning fanatic you're in for a treat. So let's get right to it.

This game is different from the rest right from the beginning. Spec Ops is a new scenario based game play. Very similar to the "Mile High Club" scenario that was unlocked by beating Modern Warfare. You can play alone or cooperatively through online or split screen. As you progress you unlock harder levels. Many of the levels are geared to co-op play, with some levels requiring 2 people to play. The gameplay will keep you glued to the screen for hours as you strive to beat each and every scenario.

Back again from the other games is the bread and butter campaign mode. The single player game mode is action packed. Thrown into exciting, fast paced battle right from the get-go, you'll be in awe as you travel from one global location to the next. The graphical detail is awe inspiring and every level is full of eye candy whether it be the snowy mountains in Kazakhstan or the heat trodden deserts of Afghanistan. The story is captivating and will throw you for loops as you get closer to the climax. Unfortunately the story is short and will end sooner than expected. All in all it will only take 4 hours to complete on normal. Don't worry though as it accomplishes quite a bit,in terms of excitement and suspense, in this time. Another great story to add to Call of Duty's already long list.

And finally the multiplayer has also returned and has been thoroughly bulked up. Much of the game play is similar to the first game, but there has been so many goodies added. Lots of new weapons in use today have been added including the SCAR-H. And there are plenty of attachments to complement the weapons including heartbeat sensor which detects players around you and thermal scope. Many new perks have made their debut along side the favorites that are returning. Kill streaks are now customizable and can be chosen from a list. Death streaks are new and help get you out of ruts when you aren't playing up to snuff. The strategies are endless as each one has some way of being countered. New titles and emblems are customizable and an be unlocked as you rank up. This gives each player their own unique look. Theres a whole lot more to keep you playing from rank 1 until you reach the epic 10th prestige.

This game is full of things to do and there's something for everyone. A gamer could easily spend countless hours completing every task. It's like receiving 3 separate games in 1. No gamer should be without this video game .
